Day One

Our shuttle van will be ready for you and your gear in front of the Stagecoach Inn at 7:15 a.m. We will be leaving at 7:30 a.m. En route we will stop at the North Fork store for last minute personal supplies, fishing licenses, and to use the bathrooms. The drive from the Stagecoach Inn to the put in at Corn Creek is about a 2 hour scenery-filled drive, over both asphalt and dirt roads. Once you have arrived at Corn Creek everyone will then participate in a thorough water safety presentation, and head off down the Salmon River! This first day on the river starts out with rapids that feature fun roller coaster waves, such as Killum and Gunbarrel and Rainier Rapid.

This day allows everyone to get comfortable with the rapids, and ready for more whitewater action in the days to follow. We stop for lunch in the early afternoon, and after some more great rafting we arrive at camp in the late afternoon. Before Happy Hour, snacks and beverages are served, your guides will unload the gear boats and distribute tents, sleeping pads and your personal dry bags.  They will also explain how the “bathroom” system works and help you with the set up of your personal camping gear.  The evening flows into a night of delicious food, campfires, camaraderie, star watching, and more.

Camping Days 2 – 4

Each day our Salmon River rafting trips follow a similar routine, although we do like to keep our trips flexible and choose activities that suit each group.

fruit for breakfastEach day begins with a multi-course breakfast and  fresh brewed coffee, as the sun slowly creeps into the canyon to dry the morning dew off your tent. After breaking camp, rigging the rafts and dawning  your days river gear, we set out for the next adventure. The river offers a new experience each and every day, we may visit old Homesteads, Native American pictographs, Barth Hot Spring, Buckskin Bill’s compound, and run rapids such as  Rainier Rapids, Black Canyon, Big Mallard, Chittam, and others. The Salmon River and canyon is blessed with a myriad for rafters to see and do, and we take in as much as humanly possible!

A delicatessen lunch is served in the early afternoon on the banks of the Salmon River, designed to fuel your system in gourmet style. Camp is set up in the early evening on either a spectacular natural white sandy beach or a grassy river bench in a wilderness forest setting. This gives you the opportunity to  hike, fish, swim, play games, reflect with friends and family during happy hour or just relax under the shade and read a book.

Our dutch oven prepared dinners have been labeled as some of the finest outdoor cuisine imaginable and are presented each evening in our riverside dining room, complete with tables and chairs. Each night will be spent under the stars and the sound of this magical river will lull you to sleep.

Final Day 5

After another hearty breakfast it is time to break camp down for the last time, load the rafts, and set out to enjoy our last day on the river. A short distance above Carey Creek take-out point, we stop for what will be our last lunch served on the banks of the Main Salmon River. We reach the take out point around 1 p.m. were our shuttle vehicle is awaiting our arrival. Here we say good-bye to the river and to our guides. The drive to McCall, Idaho is approximately 1.5 hours from the take-out. Once in McCall, depending on your post trip schedule you are taken to your hotel or the airport.

Itinerary Changes

Vacations conducted in a wilderness area are mostly controlled by Mother Nature. So there may come a time that changes to the itineraries described above will need to be adjusted for reasons we can not control.
